We've had the privilege of closely collaborating with the head teacher at Leven Valley School on several projects. This unique opportunity has allowed us to forge a strong partnership and align our visions for enhancing the school environment. Working hand in hand with the head teacher has enabled us to tailor our projects to meet the specific needs and aspirations of the school community. Together, we've strived to create impactful and meaningful spaces that inspire learning and creativity.

Book Corner

We had the absolute pleasure of bringing a little timber-crafted magic to life this with this brand new library and reading area at Leven Valley Scool.

Designed and hand-built right here at Southbarn 1850, this bespoke wooden wonder now lives in the school's computer room, and it’s already become a firm favourite with the kids (and the staff too!).

What makes this one extra special? It’s all in the roots—literally. We used local timber, including a beautiful ash tree from the school’s own grounds, and some stunning oak from the Holker Estate. So not only is it packed with character, it’s also deeply connected to the local landscape. Sustainable, meaningful, and built to last.

The reading area includes a secret nook tucked under the stairs (perfect for little adventurers) and a raised reading space to climb up into.

Massive thanks to the school for trusting us with such a joyful project. And a shoutout to our very own Rick, who poured his heart, soul, and signature craftsmanship into every corner.

Out-building

This building needed a fresh set of doors and a renewed sense of purpose, inspiring us to craft custom-made racking tailored to its requirements. Additionally, we clad it using larch milled on our sawmill which was locally sourced from Grizedale Forest. It's truly fulfilling to play a role in enhancing the school environment.

We constructed a new fence for the school using larch and completed all the steelwork in-house.

The Yam

Our small woodland shelter serves dual purposes: storing education equipment and keeping firewood dry for the pit, while also converting into a blackboard when its doors are opened. Functionality and versatility in one compact design.

We revitalized this picnic bench to ensure that the kids can enjoy it to the fullest. The bench underwent re-welding, galvanizing, and wood replacement to restore its functionality and appearance.
